Fille de marchand \u00e9picier \u00e9tabli dans la rue du Commerce \u00e0 Paris (rue des Cordeliers), Constance-Marie (n\u00e9e Blondelu) est une peintre \u00ab plus que \u00bb reconnue de son vivant.
En \u00e9pousant Fran\u00e7ois Victor Charpentier, fr\u00e8re de l’\u00e9pouse de Danton, elle devient\u00a0 belle s\u0153ur du \u00ab sulfureux \u00bb Danton, et\u00a0 se trouve\u00a0 au c\u0153ur de la tourmente R\u00e9volutionnaire.
Son \u0153uvre la plus connue, M\u00e9lancolie , remet\u00a0 en question la hi\u00e9rarchie des genres\u00a0 en confrontant le monde antique\u00a0 \u00e0 l\u2019ambiance mortif\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par la Terreur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Par ses \u0153uvres avant-gardistes et d\u2019une grande sensualit\u00e9, Constance Charpentier contribue, au d\u00e9but du XIXe<\/sup> si\u00e8cle,  \u00e0 poser les bases esth\u00e9tiques du pr\u00e9romantisme.
Beaucoup de ses \u0153uvres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 et sont toujours attribu\u00e9es par erreur au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre  et adul\u00e9 David, dont elle fut l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
