“L\u2019\u0153il amoureux” ou “lover\u2019s eye” est une ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de mode \u00e9tonnant n\u00e9 en Angleterre en 1784 et qui fait fureur en Europe au d\u00e9but du XIXe si\u00e8cle.
La mode est alors d\u2019offrir son \u0153il \u00e0 sa ou son bien aim\u00e9-e et de recevoir le sien en retour.
L\u2019\u0153il peint de l\u2019\u00eatre cher se d\u00e9cline alors en broche, bague, m\u00e9daillon,\u2026 mont\u00e9 sur des m\u00e9taux pr\u00e9cieux et orn\u00e9 de pierres ou de perles.
La mode aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9e, dit-on, par le Prince de Galles, futur George IV, qui s\u00e9duisit sa femme en lui offrant son \u0153il peint par le miniaturiste Richard Cosway. La belle lui offre le sien en retour, et la mode \u00e9tait lanc\u00e9e qui allait durer quelques d\u00e9cennies !
